Back again.

My lovely readers, I'm so sorry to keep you waiting for new posts for so long. Like in my life I get really excited about stuff quickly, but then it passes and I often wouldn't finish my projects. Because this blog is an ongoing project I fall in and out just like that. I find passion to write and post delicious stuff, but then it passes. Good news is that it's coming back for a while now, and I think future looks bright. I have tons of amazing new music and stuff I want to show you, but let's start with a video of a recent gig that I loved. This is Phoenix at Roundhouse in Camden Town.

This video ranks cities by the visual impact of their skyline. You'll probably only like it if you're into that kind of stuff anyway. I enjoyed making it, now let's see how it does :)

iMovie Obsession 2.0

I am nothing short of honored, after over 20.000 people watched my YouTube "Skyscrapers" video. Making it, almost exactly one year ago, was as fun as playing a computer game for me, and I never planned for anyone, except for a few friends, to see it. I enjoy the comments, and I thank anyone who watched it. It got me motivated to produce more content, and in past few days I indeed half finished the new video. Like the original one, it's going to be a collection of enhanced YouTube clips, but with a cool twist. All of them will be either amateur or pro footage from airplanes, helicopters & other vertical moving vehicles/objects, and will be covering the official ten greatest skylines in the World. It is planned to be released within the next few weeks.

This listing ranks cities by the visual impact of their skylines. Each building with 12 or more floors in the city proper is assigned points based on its floor count (see the table on emporis.com). The point total for each city is calculated automatically. Calculation does not include TV towers, masts, bridges, or other structures. The listing actually puts Guangzhou on the tenth position, and Dubai on eleventh, but this will change shortly, after Burj Dubai's official completion.

I set much higher standards for this project, because I want it to look professional. Here are a few highlights:

• It is going to be in HD, but obviously not all required footage was available in such extremely high resolution. Sections about Dubai, Tokyo, Chicago, and New York City will be mostly, if not all in HD.
• Video will be exported in a widescreen format 16:9.
• No titles or watermarks whatsoever are allowed to be visible in the final version of the video.
• Not a single frame should be shoot from a static viewpoint.
• Not a single frame should be shoot from the ground level. It is all about looking down on the skyscrapers.
• All footage must have been recorded during daylight.
• A vast majority of clips will be enhanced with the iMovie technology called "video stabilization", which smoothens the camera motion, and stills the picture shaking. When needed, functions like "playback speed control", "reverse video" and picture enhancement will be used.
• There will be an animated world maps, as a smooth introductions to the individual city sections.
• There is a small chance that two versions of video will be released. The compact one, fitting within YouTube's 10 minute time cap, and an uncut one, divided in the half on two episodes.

If anyone knows where to get more footage of Bangkok, Shanghai, Seoul, and mostly Singapore (!), please share. It's almost as all flights around those cities were banned.

EXCITING! Video released for a song I LOVE for over a year.

I was talking about it a long time ago, and if you check out this post from one year ago, you can hear the track. On june 8th, 2009 - a few weeks ago the band (wisely) released the video for it, with the single release following soon. It already got a lot of buzz, and it's only right because I think the song is amazing beyond words. I described it as "Very Intense" a year ago, and I have all the faith in the single, which is currently #1 on Billboard "Bubbling Under Hot 100" Chart. Not to mention how hot one of the two band members is. Get Your iPods ready!

Song Of The Week \ 14

My lovely readers. I feel like I owe you, so we're having the first triple Song of the week post, starting with my current inspirational song, which is not necessarily as good as it is appropriate for me, considering the changes I made in the last weeks. I found myself in London looking for a job, flat, and new friends, and here are exactly the lyrics I need:

This track is currently #10 on the official UK singles chart, and was #4 when highest, that means that it's on the air everywhere across London, so it just might become one of the signature songs which I'll forever associate with my arrival to this city. Californian five peace band sort of reminds me of the brilliant Shwayze, except they are not really that good, comparing all the songs from the album.

Indie extension of the summer.

Ladyhawke was already featured in this weekly theme, and right now she became the first recurring artist in it. Originally from New Zealand, she is now based in London, where she's regularly performing gigs with Peaches, and I can't wait to see one. Her first album "Ladyhawke" was released just weeks ago, and was praised by the critics, some of them even naming it a pop album of the year 2008. The reason I'm posting this song is again personal and sentimental, as I was listening to it on repeat while I was driving from the airport to the city, all alone in dark and rain, and was seriously thinking if I didn't just made a huge mistake. Not to give you the idea that I'm depressed and sad, let me show you, what I'm discovering on the other side of the spectrum. I've started to experience the nightlife, meeting new people, and one of them is just a treasury of new musical horizons. This is a band from Sweden, founded by two ex progressive rockers, which thought it would be fun to start making electro sounds. Now there is six of them, and they are creating pretty hardcore rave tunes, so my favorite is actually one of their softer ones. "Sponsored By Destiny" is amazing because of the contrast between almost popish retro-arcade-videogames sounds, and a serious party banger trance inputs and dance beats.

In case you haven't seen it before - Womanizer by ms. Spears wasn't a song that I would bet on just a few days ago, but as I saw the video for it I figured it's gonna have to be HUGE. It really is done exactly as it should be, and I'm sure it will put Britney back on top. Just remember that, I was right that way before :)

And BTW, I still love this song, seems like I just simply can't get tired of it. So I'm naming it THE song of the summer.

		I recently stumbled upon a photo gallery of Hindenburg's interiors, and was impressed about the size of it. Too bad the tragedy happened, and the biggest flying machine ever built burned. I don't get it ... it all happened because the hydrogen ignited, but helium is not flammable at all, and they could continue building those things, except from then on they should be filled with helium. Besides - When's the last time an airliner exploded into an acre-wide ball of flame a thousand feet up and only killed 2% of the passengers? Apparently, of the 35 people who died, 33 of them died when they hit the ground -- after jumping out of the gondola to escape. That would mean that whole explosion/fire/crash, in itself -- only killed 2 out of a hundred-something people on board. Plus - How much safer would the Hindenberg have been if they hadn't, oh, say, painted the entire thing with a pigment that was later used as a SOLID ROCKET FUEL OXIDIZER?

What Is It About Australians?

Ok, this is just the cutest. Matthew Mitcham was one of only eleven openly gay athletes competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, out of 11,028 athletes. Ten of those eleven athletes were women, making Mitcham the only openly gay man to compete in the Games. He received the highest single-dive score in Olympic history, and brought home a gold medal. But reason for this post is the video I found. It's an interview after the gold medal, standing with him are his mom and his boyfriend.

City Of Montreal is getting it.

As You know I love big cities, and from time to time I treat myself with visiting one. Usually I get all the information about it on Google Earth and Wikipedia, because official city sites are just ugly, old and useless. Until now! I was trying to find out some interesting stuff about Montreal, and boy was I happy to end up on their official site. It's beautiful, with lots of videos, travel ideas and general information. A true experience, like every major website should be. Check out their stunning introduction video, and see if you're not hooked.

Finally I found the will to put together a short video summary from our trip to London in early July. The band playing at the end is Death Cab For Cutie, which was just spectacular. I should make another video just from the concert.

1000 views!

It's silly, but it means something to me. Video I made about the tallest skyscrapers in the world has gathered 1000 views in just about 10 days. Proper tagging is the key, as I learned. It's my second video with over 1000 views, first one being the one from Kylie's X Tour in Vienna, but it needed much more time to get there.
