Macaulay Culkin

I never paid a lot of attention to him, until I saw him on the cover of some French magazine a few years ago. I tried to find this photos on the internet, but I couldn't for years. Then about a year ago, I was on this page gay.tv, browsing The Boy / The Girl category, and I found them. They are posted below. Then I started to explore about him, I wanted to know if he is still making movies. He retired from acting when he was like 13 years or so, but now, more that 10 years after, he continued to act in some movies, although there are very few of them. He made his comeback with crazy gay movie called Party Monster. I don't think he is much of an actor, but I really like his looks:). He also starred in the movie Saved with Mandy Moore. Hope to see more of his movies soon.

Fusion power

I was browsing trough some scientific news on internet, when I found informations about this. Involved countries agreed to build first real fusion reactor ever (existing smaller reactor filled with real plasma in picture above). They will build it in Southern France, and it is planned to be completed in 2016. Now I got curious about this whole fusion thing, because when I played SimCity, I noticed, that in year 2035 fusion power plants became available. I knew, that they are some kind of a future power sources, but I never understood the concept. Now I understand, and it's so cool:)
The force, which keeps atoms apart is called electromagnetism. The thing is, that this force became extremely weak at extreme temperatures at some atoms (materials). When this happens, material change his phase to so called plasma. This is a state of matter like liquid, solid or gas. Fire, for example, can be considered to be a very low temperature partial plasma. There is active plasma in neon lights, as well as in electrical sparks (lightnings are pure examples of plasma phase). In this state, under the right conditions, it is possible to merge specific, specially adapted atoms, what causes a giant energy release. They managed to do that already, but they only established a stable energy source for less than a second. In France they intend to maintain a fusion reaction for at least 8 minutes.
There is still a lot of questions about how power plants like that will be able to be economically efficient, if it will even be possible to safely maintain fusion reaction, or even if this sort of experiments, won't eventually destroy the world. Like with nuclear (fission) energy, it's also possible for fusion energy to be used for weapons - in fact hydrogen bomb (based on fusion processes) is already deadliest than atomic bomb.

You can find out more about plasma, fusion energy, or fusion power plant.

The Cardigans

This is a band from Jonkoping, Sweden (funny name for a town, isn't it?). They have I think 6 albums released by now, and I listened to almost all of them. I bought the tape version of album Gran Turismo six or seven years ago, when I was still commuting to school every day. I had walkman then, and listened to the songs while driving on the bus (every day about two hours), and this tape was my favorite. As technology evolved from tapes to CD's, I kind of lost The Cardigans tape, and then about a year ago, while I was working on a radio station, I coincidentally found songs from this album in a computer database. I listened to them, and it was a fantastic trip down the memory lane. Songs brought back so much memories, even those which I completely forget. It was really special. I got myself this album, and listened to it like 100 times, over and over again, love was reborn. Eventually I got a bit tired of this album (nothing last forever:), and I figured out, that they probably have some other albums. Then I got album First band on the Moon. I was surprised, how little Gran Turismo and First band ... had in common. When I get used to nice, cute and sweet tunes of this new album (actually is older than the first one I had), I started to love it, it is such a positive album. Then I got album Life. It's even older that those two before (1995), and the sound of it is pretty similar to the sound of album First band on the Moon, or should I say vice versa:) It is a terrific album. And here comes the best:) I got then their album, titled Long gone before daylight (2003). For me it's the best Cardigans album, it is a bit more chilled and calm, but sooooo beautiful. My favorite songs are Communication, And then you kissed me, Couldn't care less, Live and learn, and No sleep, but I also love all others. This is one of the best albums I've ever listened to, and I've heard quite a few. Nina Persson is the lead singer of the band, and her voice is just so amazing, innocent and powerful at the same time. They have new album and single out now, album is called Super extra gravity, and the single is titled I need some fine wine, and you, you need to be nicer. Definitely one of the longest song titles in popular music industry:) I don't really like this single, it's sort of too rough and confusing. New album is fine, it includes some really amazing tracks, like Overload, Don't blame your daughter, and In the round, but it isn't far so good as their previous albums. But I guess this is just a phase. I probably just have to get used to it, like I had to their albums before. Anyway, if someone ask me about my favorite band, I will definitely say The Cardigans!

Ryan Carnes

I watched Desperate Housewives, season 1, and find this super cute guy, actor named Ryan Carnes. He is playing Justin - a gay friend of John - Gabrielle's gardener. I liked his looks so much, that I started to investigate about him on the internet, and found out that he also played in a gay themed movie Eating Out. I tried to somehow get this movie, I was even prepared to buy it in US over net, and then I found this torrent, and of course imediately download it. Liked it a lot, almost fell in love with Ryan (he is also playing gay in Eating Out), and then slowly forgot about it.

Yesterday I watched latest Desperate Housewives episode, and he apeared again. This time as a lover of Bree's son Andrew. He has a new haircut, and is of course still cute as hell! He is not really gay, he just happend to play gay roles. His next movie will be released next year, and it will be titled Surf School - he will be a hot surfing stud, so I can't wait to see it:)

He is 23 years old, and lives in Pittsfield, Illinois.

More about him here and here.

Eureka Tower

OK, here is the first thing that impressed me. This skyscraper is called Eureka Tower and at the time it's still under construction in Melbourne, Australia. It will be 297 meters high when finished (exactly 300 meters above sea level), what will make him the tallest skyscraper in Southern Hemisphere, and also the tallest residential building in the world. I asked my friend from Melbourne if it's impressive to see, and I'm still waiting for his answer. I'll let you know. Take care!

P.S.: My friend told me that he works very near this tower. He said: "it is ok, its nearly finished i think. it looks great in a foggy morning. the fog covers the top half but the sun above reflects off of the white panels, so it shines white rays through the cloud. its pretty cool. its mostly residential (houses) and they are very expensive with the most modern features. i have included a picture of it from the way to work today." The picture is also included in this post. I want to go to Australia SO badly!!! Have to figure something out, and then I'll have the time of my life, no I never felt this way before, yes I swear it's the truth ... ok ok:)

Introduction

Hello! I've made this blog to post some things that impress me. It's pretty often, that I find something (like a song, person, building, software, movie .... ) which tickles me one way or another, so I've decided to collect those things in one place, since I don't want to forget about them, and I also want my friends to see them. This blog is also a way to improve my english. I hope you'll all have a great time reading it.
